HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Sorry folks, no wild, party animal news here. Once again the new year arrived without my conscious consent.
I worked yesterday morning, as I will for the next two Saturdays. Yesterday afternoon we went to a friend's home for homemade hot buttered rum. DELICIOUS! Z was coming down with a cold, so he stayed home to watch more of the DVD his sister gave him for Christmas: Puppets That Kill. He LOVES it SME, and is so proud of his sister's twisted sense of humor!
We returned home by 4:30, and began laying out our dinner of munchies: meats and cheeses, crackers, cocktail shrimp, smoked oysters, chips and dip, and cocktail smokies. I forgot pickled herring too, SME :(
During our feast we started watching the Monty Python Marathon on BBCAmerica. What a RIOT! Z has seen most of their movies, but has seen very little of the Flying Circus. After dinner, I got cozy in my recliner with my faithful fuzzy blanket. I was out cold by 8:30! I awoke at 10:30 and toddled off to bed.
The heartening news for 2006 is that our state legislature is making a TOP PRIORITY of handling the new Eminent Domain problem. Maybe this will keep them too busy to try to cram state-funded sports arenas down our throats!

Happy New Years! I had a similar night, although I woke up in enough time to see Mariah Carey perform on Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve (gag). New Year's now means I have to remember to write 2006 on everything. :-P
Me too. My first batch of bills is usually paid with the previous January's date. :(
Looks like I didn't miss anything on Dick Clark. ;)
What is the eminent domain problem?
WC, our wonderful federal gov't decided that eminent domain(confiscating your property for a "fair" price) could be used by private developers if they prove that it would be a financial advantage to the area.
The gov't left a loophole which stated that it was up to the individual states to administer this policy.
You're a Monty Python fan, too? I love those guys. Ichabod got the Spamalot soundtrack for Christmas.
Hope 2006 is great for you!
Notta: Glad I wasn't the only one who had to listen to some awful music on New Year's! At the downtown celebration here, a DJ played The Village People and Gloria Estefan before the countdown. It was like time travel.
Mom: Guess we both have to wait a whole year for pickled herring.
:(
I gave up on the whole midnight thing at 11:30. The jetlag is not working in my favor! 11:30 was late considering that I was up at 5...
Happy New Year!!!
i've been watching the law and order marathon for days and i've finally gotten a little sick of it! took 72 hours, though. I finally added you to my blogroll. sorry it's taken me so long! happy new year!
Happy New Year to all!
We banged pots our front at midnight after watching the ball drop. Both girls made it this year. They're very proud of that!
Looks like we all celebrated the New Year in a safe manner.
I like to think that we're all CREATIVE, not BORING! ;)
SME - The Village People are still alive? :-P I never liked Gloria Estefan - her voice is too nasally.
TSHS - Oh, I'd like to think I'm not boring, but I have no such illusions. H wanted to go to San Francisco, but I couldn't see the point of endangering our lives to be on the road with all the drunken idiots. Call me crazy...
Creative, Notta, C-R-E-A-T-I-V-E!
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. ;)
There's 3 nights up here that I refuse to drive: New Year's Eve, Prom Night, and Graduation Night. Too many crazy drunks on the road!
I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay
Sleep all night and I work all day
He's a lumberjack and he's okay
Sleeps all night and he works all day
Love Monty Python! I guess British humor (and heavy metal) makes up for their horrible food.
And I dress in women's clothing and I hang around in bars.
Yep, that was one of the episodes we saw.
