It's Beginning to Look....
I'm so excited!
I went outside at dusk today to take some pictures of the most snow we've had in 3 years. When I loaded the pictures to the computer, I was amazed to discover that I had captured snowflakes in the glare of my flash! These are tiny flakes, so I was even more surprised when they showed up in my pictures. I"ve NEVER been able to get a decent snowfall picture.
The front row of arbor vitaes in this picture were only a single frond when I planted them 20 years ago. The spruce trees behind them were dug out of a friend's pasture. He was happy to get rid of any trees I wanted to dig up.
I've lovingly planted, watered, fertilized, and trimmed all the trees on our property. They have become my babies, and I'm quite proud of the way they've grown up.
As I was returning to the house, I was struck by how cozy our living room window looked. Nature's beauty added to the view of our Christmas tree lights through the window with icicles, snow, and frost.
The Christmas bug has bitten, and my family is infected with the Christmas spirit.

Firsties!
Gorgeous! Wanna see a picture of a our parking ramp? It's covered with snow, too, and looks mighty purdy. ;D
It's a winter wonderland!
Great pics!
LOVELY pics!!! Don't want the snow, tho, lol. Glad that the bug's bitten....
Any other year I would have had a photo of our first snowfall up in October, or the very latest, early November. And not just any snow-- deep, serious, you-ain't-goin'-to-work-tomorrow snow. But not this year, the light dusting we had a few days ago I hesitate to even call snow.
I blame Al Gore.
Your snow's awful pretty, though! ;)
SME, NO! I think my collection of parking ramp pics is complete. ;)
Thanks Hammer!
BB, I like the snow from Nov-Jan. After that, I start whining about it. As long as we don't get freezing rain, I'm happy.
Courtney, that's the way it's been here the last couple of years. We've already got more snow on the ground than we did ALL last winter.
The middle of November we still had green grass. I thought we were in for another dry winter.
Hmmph. ;P
Beautiful pictures. The bug hasn't bitten here yet...
I have to say that since I started doing afghans and such I have the X-mas spirit too. I was feeling really doomed a few weeks ago when I realized that we may not have an X-mas for the girls. The still might not get a big X-mas but they will have something under the tree from us. And my mom and you guys.
YIPPEE!! IT'S SNOWING, um here as well. I just put our snow song up on my blog. Your snow, however, is much more impressive than ours. *envy* *sigh* Enjoy the glorious weather and the season. M just texted me that she plugged in the lights on our pine tree out front. It's about the only X-mas decorating I've found time to do so far.
Great photos. Nice blog, look forward to visiting often. Our winters have been the same old stuff mostly, maybe a bit greener at times, but still loadsa snow. Guess we're in a chilly rut.
Used to have relatives in N. Minnesota, lost touch though(or outlived'em, don't remember kids being involved). Loved the place.
If it's any comfort, my present Mrs(2nd)& I went to school together and got together after 35+ years apart. Her 3rd marriage. Got a buncha grandkids between us and been together 14 years in Jan and getting better daily. As long as there's a common goal, all things are possible.
How beautiful, it makes me wish for a snowy Christmas! Your tender loving care of your trees shows - they are picture perfect. Very nice pictures - it does put ya in the Christmas mood, yes?
Jeannie, I'm such a Christmas fanatic that it doesn't take much of a bite for me.
Tweets, I told you so! Christmas isn't about presents. It's about the great gift that God gave us all!
VV, ANY snow is welcome this time of year. It looks like we're finally going to get a normal winter.
Anytime you guys want to frolic in the snow, just let us know.
Welcome Mike!
I've been waiting on some construction workers from Maine this week. They said their winters are quite similar to ours.
I don't think I could live in a place without 4 seasons!
Thanks Gardenia!
I'll have to post pictures of the rest of my "babies" next summer.
Nice photos, but I am not yet engaged with winter. I want more summer.
Not me! I like winter a lot better than summer.
I grinned from ear to ear when I saw this post with it's stunningly gorgeous photos - including the snowflakes. Good job, Tshs!!
Your loving care of your trees is fantastic. I'm a tree lover and nurturer myself and can relate to your pride.
The bug has bitten me, too. I'm all gushy and sentimental and sure wish I had your snow! It'd be the perfect complement to my mood!
Thanks for taking the time to share your beautiful home and land with us. I love it!
"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"
and...
"Silent night. Holy night."
Thanks Cherie!
Now that I've captured the beauty of the snow on our trees, I need to do some nurturing and knock the snow off the bottom branches. A mother's job is never done. ;)
How right you are!
Just make sure you are wearing good boots so you don't get that snow inside and freeze your little tootsies.
;D
The girls are getting something from my mom today. I am going shoppig when Jeff comes home and then we are going to get them something small from us. With my crocheting we have caught up on our bills so they get one big present and then one or two small ones each. The big present they have to share though.
Cherie, I think I'll just have L snowblow a path around the trees. ;)
Tweets, EXCELLENT!!
The important thing is that you're caught up on your bills!
I'll be sending my package on Monday. I already mailed you the mitten patterns.
Oh - that snow is wonderful! I miss it. Miss it, miss it, miss it. :-(
I'm hoping that our new area is more prone to snow than Philly. lol.
Monica, I'm wishing for a nice blanket of Christmas snow for you. ;)
Those pictures are soooo pretty! I'm missing the Midwest now. :(
ZS, it was -19F last night. Now, are you still missing the midwest? ;)
