This Could Take FOREVER!

Our electrician planned on having the work on our powerline completed by last Friday. He said all he needed was the go-ahead to dig AND an appointment with the ditch-witch guy.

I didn't realize that "go-ahead" meant every single utility company in the county! We've had our powerline, encased in conduit, laying across our front yard for 8 days now. Today, the first utility company showed up....the gas company. We don't have natural gas! BUT, we still needed the company to come out and put a flag in our yard that says we don't have gas.

Now we're waiting for the phone, cable, water, and electric companies to come out and place their little flags! Any bets that they'll all show up before the ground freezes?

Ack! I had no idea what all would be involved. I'm sorry you have to wait for all the red tape. :-/

Oh Lord. That's terrible. I am going to put my money on them finishing before the ground freezes - only because I believe in thinking positive. (Alot of good THAT did when my settlement date was postponed 4 times!) Hope springs eternal. I wish you luck and hope for a speedy fix.

I noticed on the weather map yesterday that snow fell way the heck up north. I thought of you and wondered... I am not sure how far north you are but here's to hoping the weather cooperates until this gets taken care of!

Too bad we don't live closer! Tom has been doing locating all summer and now into fall. Not his normal job. Helping a co-worker. He doesn't put up flags, but uses spray paint. Around here the guys have 48 hours to get the locating done. Hope that's the case up where you are!

Same sort of hurry and wait situation here. Our concrete guys have formed up our flatwork, but then, it rained. And it's raining. And the predicted dry days are days the guys have previous appointments. I guess we'd better get used to having formed-up front steps and back patio, huh.

Oy.

Good news, though. Joe's car is finished and runs smooooth.

Hope you get your stuff done SOON!

Patience...patience...feel free to say those words right back to me, Tshs!

It just occurred to me that it would be kind of cool to have one of those 'we do not have gas' flags to carry around. It would be most excellent to have one handy for use in elevators.

Hmmmm, I must look into this.

Jeannie, you said it!

Shawn, I laughed when the gas guy came. He got a bit miffed and said:"It's the LAW!"

Notta, me neither. :(

Squirl, it did. Cable and phone marked their lines yesterday, after L showed them where they were. ;)

Monica, it's looking a bit more promising now.

Pam, we just got a few flakes. They got a couple of inches 100 miles west of here though.

Hi Ben! Long time no speaky.
You're right! Today, our yard looks like a demented football field.

Thanks Tweets. Good vibes are working. ;)

Cherie, L and I were just talking about our concrete experience the other day. We totally lucked out last year, when they were building our garage! It only rained 1 day, and that was after the roof was on. This year is a different story.
I hope your weather clears long enough for your concrete to be poured and cured!
I've been pretty patient with this project. Mostly because we don't have to pay them until it's finished. ;)

LOL Shawn!! If they don't pick up the gas sign, I'll mail it to you. You'd think we'd get a lot of new friends with a sign like that in our yard. ;)
