Glitches Galore!
My life has been ruled by glitches the past 2 weeks!
Our internet provider is updating their service, so we have been without internet access numerous times. Z's computer died, causing us to share 1 computer between the 3 of us. L ordered US a new computer, then decided that we should put the new computer in Z's room. This situation caused a round of musical computers resulting in me not knowing which computer contained my bookmarks, email, and photo programs.
Before we put the new computer in Z's room, Z and I built a sturdy new computer desk in his room(pictured above). We built 2 cd/dvd shelf units into the desk for tons of new storage. Z sanded, stained, and polyurethaned his desk and is quite proud of the results.
THEN, just when L had everything installed on our computer, we got a virus Saturday afternoon and L had to restore this computer! L did a quickie job of restoring so we could webcam with SME and Doug on Saturday night. We had 6 members of L's family here for the long weekend who hadn't seen SME for 8 yrs. Unfortunately, SME's webcam was broadcasting intermittently, so we didn't see as much of them as they saw of all of us.
Yesterday morning our cable box quit transmitting a picture to our tv. The cable company tried re-setting the box remotely twice, but nothing happened. We've had this box for 6 yrs, so I guess we're due for a new one.
Here's 5 out of 6 of the wild bunch that shared our home this weekend. I'll be posting more about them later. Right now I'm too worn out from our marathon Wii bowling tournaments that lasted 'til the wee hours of the morning.

Wii bowling rocks! A great way to unwind!
Sorry to hear about all your glitches. Technology, eh? Sometimes it bites you in the ass. I'm just sorry it bit you in the ass so much recently. Z's desk looks great - he should be proud.
Nice to see you back blogging!
WC, we haven't laughed that much in months! Our family is competitive in a hilarious way.
Yesterday, the cd player in the truck froze up. I swore at it, re-inserted the cd, and voila- it started working again. I think it was the swearing that fixed it. ;)
These glitches are horrid. I hope they get fixed and soon. We were having computer problems yesterday also. I have a good post but its going to have to wait till tomorrow.
What a fun-looking bunch, Tshsmom! They must have kept you hopping but I bet it was a great time.
Am very glad that you have lots of computer expertise under your roof. That table looks very sturdy and functional. My late dad used to make something like that too.
Also very relieved to see you blogging again. Hope that the musical computer thing works out. I would hate to lose my bookmarks!
Tweets, we're all fixed now, except for the cable box.
Bridg, they can be a fun bunch. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law, and mother-in-law can be a huge PIA! :(
L installed my bookmarks and photo programs this morning. Now I'm all set to roll again. ;)
Yeah! New computer, new desk, visiting family, aren't you exhausted? The desk looks great. You and Z need to pat yourselves on the back for doing such a great job! M and the band are practicing right now, then we're having a cookout. Hope your Labor Day weekend is fun and relaxing!
oh man, I love the Wii. It's so fun. We made little Miis for some of our friends and family for when we take it over to someone's house.
If you get the chance, look into the Wii fit. It's really quite fun and you get some good exercise too.
Sorry about your computer problems. That sucks, especially when you rely on it to communicate to long distance family.
Thanks VV! Z has been showing off his desk to everybody he knows. He even posted the whole process on his blog.
I'm relaxed AND exhausted, but it was worth it. ;)
Laura, Z plans on turning his cousin's Mii into a transvestite. Z warned him not to beat his high score. ;)
I might ask for Wiifit for Christmas, even though I don't like the thought of my Mii getting pudgy.
L easily fixed all our computer problems. It was just a pain doing it with a houseful of company. :(
Glad the PC is working but sorry you're having so many technical issues. Sounds like a pain.
Computer glitches! Sorry about that. The desk looks nice.
Hope you survived the weekend!
Photo of the wild bunch is so cute! Wow, what a round with computers - they do become personal - like an old Bible almost with your own markings & notes that are so unique.
We have a laptop coming - "H" and I will share - which will be interesting as he is a download freak - I will be sure to keep the virus program updated! I think somehow the computer can carry each person's bookmarks, etc. through creating log in's in Windows. I think?
Hammer, I spose I'd better get back on the phone with the cable company and find out what they're gonna do with this POS box.
Squirl, I survived the weekend well. Then I went to work and lifted something that knocked my back out of whack. :(
Gardenia, as you can see, the 4-yr-old was the life of the party!
L burned a cd with all my bookmarks and stuff. The problem came when we kept switching computers before we decided who'd get which computer.
Yeah, it's annoying that the Wii Fit "judges" you - I get the "That's Obese!" every time it shows my BMI. But if you learn to just ignore that, have fun with it, and realize that getting off your butt, doing some stretches, is better than sitting on the couch.
Love the picture!
Still not sure what was going on with our cam.
Things are a bit "glitchy" here too. With all the arrests at the Republican convention, Richard's been worried Barrett will get himself arrested and miss the conference (he's covering it for some conspiranoia radio show).
Then a local radio chick who was supposed to interview Barrett and Professor Hall tonight flaked out and had a polar bear expert on her show instead, simply to advertise some stupid let's-exploit-the-polar-bears-before-they're-all-dead tour service. To her credit, she apologized and offered them a full hour later in the week.
If it makes you feel any better, all my Sims were erased for no apparent reason and I had to start over from scratch. Just when I was getting a good cult started....
We've also had a lot of problems with our digital cable. It goes out frequently, or the guide doesn't load properly. I'm not impressed with it.
Why do all glitches seem to happen at the same time? The Wii Fit is awesome, but I need to get back on it. I never gave Yoga a second thought, but after the Wii Fit, I really like it. It make my back and neck feel tons better!
"Whew,"is all I can say! Sounds like you've been kept very busy! What kind of virus protection do you have! Donna has AVG on hers but I'm trying Avast on mine. So far so good. Both of these free apps seem better than the Norton and McAffee we had before.
My desktop goes away once in a while and I have to go to task manager and reload everything into ms config. That usually fixes it. If not, I do a system restore a couple of weeks back.
'oops'..ditto on what JC said!
Z should be proud of his work on that desk You, too! Looks great.
I agree with WC - Wii bowling ROCKS! I like that it's something the family can do together for free, rain or shine. Nice that you had a good hilarious time. You guys deserve it.
Glad the glitches are coming unglitched. So annoying!
Hey, we have Wii fit now. Boy is it fun. Who knew I could be a pro at snowboarding, downhill skiing, yoga, AND step dancing?!?
Laura and Courtney, with my current back problem, I definitely see WiiFit in my future!
SME, at least you and Mikey had a good visit! AND you got to see Syd in action. ;)
Courtney, that's what I want to know! Right now, I'm just waiting to see what the glitch du jour is gonna be. :(
JC, L uses Adware. L just rebuilt the computer last week, so a quick restore did the job this time.
CA, gotcha! ;)
Cherie, I see a Wii in my in-law's future. Our nephew was impressed by the way it united the whole family in fun.
