Still HOT!

I've had a crush on Rick Springfield since I bought his first album, Beginnings, in 1972. I bought the album for the song Speak to the Sky. I had no idea how good-looking Rick was until I purchased the album (pictured above).

I was ecstatic when Rick's career REALLY took off in 1981 with the release of his album, Working Class Dog. The 80s was Rick's decade, and I happily snapped up all of his albums. L even bought me a copy of his movie, Hard to Hold.
Today, Rick was a guest on Oprah. I can't believe how well he's aged! It's just not right that a 58-yr-old man should still look this HOT!

I wonder if those glasses are bifocals?

True confessions here - I remember when Rick was on General Hospital. I used to watch it many moons ago - many many many. Anyhoo, he was just a young thing then (yes, yes, so was I...ahem). I was flipping through the channels today and saw him there singing Jesse's Girl and thought," He looks the same but the video footage looks new." Then I saw Oprah wailing away and realized it WAS him. You are right - he looks so good! 58!! I did not know that.

What is his secret? Did she interview him? I didn't stick around to watch - life beckoned.

Give me details.... :D

He dominated the early eighties, that's for sure. Jessie's Girl is a great song, too.

M's band performs "Jessie's Girl." Not only does he still look good, his songs still sound good too.

Hmmm, and I always thought that he was terrible and had no fans and that the only reason people listened to him is that they thought he was Springsteen (hence, his song "They Call me Bruce", or something like that). Or, maybe it's because of the soap opera connection. Anyway, I'm surprised to learn that people like him. Who knew? I've been informed :-)

Cherie, this is a bit of a true confessions post, isn't it? ;)

Details...his songs are mostly autobiographical and there was a "Jessie's Girl", only Jessie's name was Gary. Rick stopped performing to raise his 2 sons(NICE looking boys) with his wife of many moons. Rick adores dogs; they're his "totem animal".

Ben, according to his website, he has a new album coming out soon. Not bad for an old guy. ;)

Tweets, now you know who us old ladies were drooling over back in the "old days". ;)

VV, I didn't know that M was in a band...COOL! I need to burn his LPs to CD so I can play them in the truck.

ZF, I'm relieved to hear that you didn't have a crush on Rick! ;)
Springsteen? Meh, the only album I liked was Born in the USA.

I guess this wouldn't be a good time to say that I hated Born in the USA...

LOL! Most TRUE Springsteen fans hate that album.

Now, his guitar has 2 humbuckers.

Hey, that's not fair!!!! He looks younger at 58 than in the picture above it.

Us "oldies" know how to do it - you wear progressive lenses - you can get three graduated layers, for reading, for computer, for distances. And no one can tell. Now, don't tell anyone.

SME, Dad would be ecstatic if they are bifocals! ;)

ZS, once again, good eye! The only thing I noticed was that he was wearing his wedding ring like a good boy. ;)

Gardenia, do you like the progressive lenses? I might try them if I have to advance to trifocals.

Rick Springfield came back to General Hospital last year again. He is still really hot. I like his sound. I have to say that I never cared for Springsteen.

Squirl, me neither. To me, Springsteen always sounds like a poor imitation of Bob Dylan. :(

He does not look 58 more like 40. I heard of him but don't think I know any of his songs... I'll look him up on You Tube.
