Thor

We found out today that the baby's name is Thor. I like this. Thor is a strong name and this little guy needs all the strength he can get!

We have our bedroom back together and now have our living room torn apart. We received some money from L's mother (a loooong story; will post about it later) and bought some new furniture. It will be delivered around the 28th. We're scurrying to get the living room floor done before the furniture arrives.

Z is having OCD problems. He's currently obsessing over his health and food. His health obsession has caused sleep problems. This is creating a rather vicious cycle. What next?

Thor is an interesting name...I've definitely heard worse. How nice that you're able to do some redecorating. :-) Hmm... with kids, there is always something "next" - I've quit asking. :-P

Ain't that the truth? At this point, we just take it as it comes.

Is Z worried about what's in food? Or what kind of food he eats?

Are the renos upsetting his routines? Could that be a possible cause?

SME, he's mostly worried about it being cooked through and how old it is. He tears everything into tiny pieces, like you do with roast beef.

WC, the only change there's been to his routine is less schoolwork right now.
I think his changing hormones are throwing his brain for a loop. TS normally peaks during the early teen years.

I've been asking myself the "what next" question too. My daughter's ADD is full-blown right now. If it's not one thing, it's another.

Well, at least we're not bored; are we Robin?
I feel so bad for the kids. They know this is happening to them and get soooo frustrated.

Only in Minnesota will you see a kid named Thor. I love it.

Good luck with Z. We were always very strict with Junior. If my wife and I ate it, he had to eat it. So if we hated it, he was allowed to hate it. But he couldn't leave the table until food was done.

Then we'd intentionally do something fun like whip out a game or a movie he really likes and leave him at the table (which was still within site range so he can't choke or anything without us knowing). He'd suddenly finish his food really fast, whether he liked it or not.

ZS, he has a strong gag reflex(ANOTHER overractive part of his brain), which makes eating certain foods impossible. He loves lettuce, but can't eat it without vomiting. We didn't know this when he was a toddler, so meals were often interesting, to say the least. We always thought he could just make himself vomit on cue.
To this day, one of our family's favorite expressions is "Can't yike it; makes me gag!"
Z has to be gassed at the dentist just for a checkup. The dental instruments gag him.
The mealtime rule at our house is: this is what we're having, you don't HAVE to eat it, but there's nothing until the next meal!
Z's problems with food right now are overanalyzing it. EVERYTHING has to be shredded into microscopic bites before he eats it. It takes him an hour to eat and he hates cold food, so he's running back and forth to the microwave with his plate. This process is quite frustrating to him and puts him in a pissy mood.

Bridg, I TRY to cook mostly whole foods that don't have additives. We NEVER mention additives at our house. We don't want Z getting obsessed with that too!

ZS, NOTHING is normal with this child. Our household takes Alfred E. Neuman's credo to the nth degree!

Ann, I haven't had a spam comment since turning on word verification. If you go to Dashboard there's a link to explain how to enable it.

GWB, I'm finding that MY hormones can do some strange things at our age too. My motto is to live long enough to be a problem to my children ;)

Best of luck to little Thor and his parents. My wife used to watch the daughter of a BP mother (even younger than your GD) who has also developed a habit of multiple pregnancies with multiple men. Eventually my wife had to "fire" her as a client because she had an episode with threatening behavior, but we always worried about her kid.

Little Thor. I hope he wears the name well.

Good luck with your son. Sounds like you're doing everything that you can.

I wish I had thought of Thor. Nordic names could be the next big trend.

Favorite book before Friday.

It is an auspicious name.
