24 Hours, My ASS!!
According to the ER doctor, cornea injuries heal in 24 hrs. Maybe 36 in my case, since the injury was a bit deeper.
Well...I took the patch off last night. The eye would only open halfway and looked all milky, red, and ugly. L said this was a result of having the patch on.
I went to work this morning, hoping that the eye would look better as the day went on. WRONG!! Bright light gave me a stabbing headache. The eye continued to water. My customer's eyes were starting to water, in sympathy, when they looked at me. The film over my eye continued to whack out my depth perception, so I was tripping over everything. My boss got someone in to cover for me, and I went to the doctor.
The doctor could see the "nasty gouge" in my eye before he put dye in the eye. After he put the dye in, and looked at it with the blacklight, the doctor showed me the gouge in the mirror. YIKES, the thing covers 1/3 of my eyeball!!
Bottom line: the eye is infected, therefore it will take longer to heal. I got antibiotic drops and a tetanus shot. I also have to go to the ER tomorrow, to have a doctor check my progress. Oh goody, ANOTHER 2-3 hr trip to the ER waiting room!!
The good news is that it's raining. Now I don't feel as frustrated about not working on the house.
Thank you SO MUCH, all my friends, for joining my pity party yesterday.

Geez, I am SO sorry this happened! eye injuries are always scary ( not to mention painful and incredably inconvenieint).
Please take it easy and get the thing healed.
I'll give you a pass on visiting my blog until you are comepletely recovered!
Yikes. This sounds so nasty. Eye infections can be so gross. I'm glad you're getting good treatment though, even though you have to wait in the ER for long periods of time. I know exactly what that is like. Gee, your system sounds so much like OUR system...
Tshsmom please stop working, stop blogging stop EVERYTHING and get the hell well!!!
You only get two eyes!!!!
OKAY????
Sheesh!!
We'll be here when you're better, OKAY?
Scrunch will you please take care of this lady?? Make her stay in bed??? Please????
YIKES!!!
p.s. and it's 24 hours MY EYE!!
Thanks GWB! BTW, I've already been to your blog. ;)
WC, unfortunately, BOTH of our health care systems need improving, our more than yours.
ND, I behaved yesterday. I'm not guaranteeing anything today though. ;)
LMAO at your title!! Yours fits better, doesn't it?
oh my gosh - i can't believe this is happening - the original injury was bad enough! Sounds as if you are not good at babying yourself! But then what does one do? Sit and look at wall with one eye? Do not hesitate to go to specialist if you aren't better in a couple of days - FAST!
Apparently, the simple pirate thing isn't working...you need to step it up a bit.
Yer gonna to need a ship. Gotta be might fast one too, with plenty of cannons. No self-respectin' pirate is ever without a ship.
Git yerself a monkey too. Make 'im first mate and make the last first mate walk the plank.
And yer gonna have to do some lootin'. Start small with the cookie jar and then work up to the ice cream. Take it all...and laugh heartilly when yer doin' it.
I'll be assumin' you got a sword already... Swing it about wildly from time to time and swear like a...well, like a pirate.
Arrrgh.
Oh, and don't let anyone else watch t.v. Swing the sword and yell, 'Avast! You'll not be watchin' the magic box if I can't be watchin' the magic box...now drop that flipper you mangy cur!'
That should take care of it...or maybe it will be the antibiotics and stuff.
Owww... I remember when my cat gouged his eye and it turned all milky and they put that dye stuff in there and we could see this huuuge chunk missing. He had drops and salve to put in there, it was nasty.
:((
Feel better
So what was the verdict?
Holy cow woman! The lawyer in me keeps thinking there's gotta be somebody you can sue for your injury, pain and suffering. Hope you heal quickly now that you have the antibiotics.
i am so sorry!!!! i hope that you are doing better .... i can't imagine!! i've been fortunate enough to never have an eye injury ....
i really hope that you are all healed soon!!!
Diana, I never seem to have time to baby myself. I gotta work on that!
Shawn, you should write get-well cards. You had my whole family rolling on the floor! BTW, I can swear like a pirate. ;)
Laura, I'd rather have an eye injury myself, than try to administer eye meds to a cat! That must have been fun. :(
VV, can I sue myself, for not wearing adequate eye protection? Or maybe my Dad, for teaching me how to use a table saw?
Does this mean that I now have a "lawyer on retainer"? Cool, I'm coming up in the world! ;)
Raven, if it wasn't for bad luck, you and I wouldn't have any luck at all.
Everybody, the antibiotics did the trick! I'm almost back to normal, whatever that may be. ;)
I would say "swears like a sailor". Is that different from "swears like a pirate"? ;D
Ack, ack, ACK! That's HORRIBLE!! O_O
My eyes were squining and watering just READING this. Argh! :(
SME, I think the term you've used is "swears like a longshoreman". Longshoremen are part of the shipping industry; so are sailors. A pirate is also a sailor. Therefore, I think it's safe to assume that Mom swears like a pirate. ;)
Candace, ack has been one of my favorite expletives, this past week. I LOVE your eyeballs!
ow ow ow ow ow ow!!!!!!!!!
((( hugs )))
i am SO sorry that you're having to deal with this .....
please get better soon ...

(PS: you shouldn't even be reading this!!!!)
sme: Not all sailors swear. I lead a very sheltered life while in the navy. L B
