Ta Da!

L and I are proud to present: one newly repainted house! We finished just in time. This morning, we woke to....
Snow on the leaves in our yard! Followed by.....
Icicles on the house.

We're hoping for a couple more nice October days, so I can paint the trim on the back of the house. At least we've got the house all sealed up for the winter, if winter is here to stay.

We're crossing our fingers that the paint will stay on the house this time. The last time we painted the house, the paint started flaking off during the winter. We think this was a result of bad primer. The only areas that flaked, were the areas we primed. It flaked off right down to the original paint.

L sanded down the flaked areas, and applied a clear primer, made especially for flaking paint. If this doesn't work, we'll be:
a) Swearing
b) Crying
c) Drinking
d) all of the above

Ha, ha - I feel like doing all the things on your list, and I haven't been nearly as busy as you have. :-P I'm such a big baby.

Looks good!
You win the first-snow award this year; we got very cold rain instead.

T, I just left you a message on my blog instructing you to take photos of the snow and make snow angels. I see you've already taken the photos and that there's not enough snow for snow angels, but don't let that stop you. No! Lie down right there on that pile of snow covered leaves and start practicing those angels! Oh, and I hope the paint sticks! You've got enough chores without having to do it all over. We get to clean the front gutters and all the downspouts this weekend. I anticipate cut hands on the sharp metal. :-( We'll play afterwards. This weekend is BaconFest! More on that in a few days. :-)

ND, luck was finally with us!

Notta, go ahead and do them. I firmly believe that swearing is a great stress reliever. ;)

SME, you guys have had milder winters than us lately. What's up with that?

VV, maybe I could make leaf angels?

SME, spoken like a true vegan. heehee

I seriously don't hate anything more than the first snow of the year. Blech.

Looks like you could make slush angels, not much more. ;D
Still no snow here! I don't get it, either. It's a mystery.
OK, I'm off to check out this BaconFest...

Near as I can tell, BaconFest involves bacon. And beer. Is it a picnic?

Jay, I hate the last snows of the year, like in April or May.
I actually enjoy snow until the middle of February. It starts getting tiresome by then.

SME, keep an eye on VV's blog next week. I'm sure she'll post pictures, just to make me jealous. ;)

Looks beautiful. We too had such a quick fall, now the snow. Looks like you'll be snug as bugs in a rug.

Wow, how could two little words cause so much fuss! Baconfest is a yearly event among about 30+ friends. We get together at one guy's house, with a massive bonfire, and everyone brings a different dish which must include bacon. You would be amazed at the versatility of bacon. We got an early sample of sugared pecan bacon ice cream and it tastes like you have a buttered, syruped pancake in your mouth with crunchy pieces of bacon. It's just amazing. My apologies to the Vegans out there, my daughter is a vegetarian so I hear about it constantly. But I was raised in farm country, used to the sight of slaughtering animals for meat for the winter and have no qualms about eating meat. I think I've contributed enough to the vegan world by not interfering with my daughter's vegetarianism and animal rights work, and she's been at it for 7 years. Oh, and yes, there WILL be Beer! Lots of it. :-) A full report will be on my blog early next week.

Thanks Diana! The snug part is my favorite part of winter.

Thanks VV. You didn't have to explain. I told them to keep an eye on your blog.
How did 2 carnivores, like us, wind up with vegetarian daughters? ;)
I'd have no problem finding a dish to bring to the party. I use bacon in a lot of soups and hotdishes.
The snow is sticking to the trees today. I'll have to run out and take a picture for you.

Snow envy . . . *sigh* As for us both having vegetarian daughters, I really am becoming suspicious that we might secretly be related.

I've had that suspicion for quite a while now. ;)

Bacon ICE CREAM?! Ye gods. I don't even know what to say to that.

BABE has a few words to say about crackling munching Homo Sapiens.

Bacon indeed, how dare you disguise my piglet siblings Pinky Porky and Perky's bodies by smoking and preserving them, we are not hams hocks or bacon, we are gentle lovable Piggies who mean no harm. No, we are not Hogs, you are the hogs who devour us, you are the swine who mutilate us.
So now you can understand why I am so DisGruntled.
Do you know humans once ate each other, warring tribes would roast their male captives, they were then referred to as 'LONG PIGS'.
BABE also suggests that Old Humans should be BACONISED instead of being cremated, nothing tastes better than a slice of 'Long Pig' in crusty bread on a cold winters day when the icicles freeze your chitterlings.

If it doesn't, you'll have to send me something stronger than hot chocolate. ;)

Thanks Nikki!
I've got a little blogging advice. First of all, DON'T use your real name. DON'T give out your exact location on your blog. There are some real nasty people out here. If you read the posts above this one, you'll meet a real nasty person. 2nd, we're SME and TSHSMOM, for all the above reasons.

Do you have a blog yet? If not, get one! SME and I have a blast with all of our blogfriends!
Give the girls a hug from me!

At 10/30/2006 3:30 PM, Blogger tshsmom said...

OK Nik, you're doing good, so far. I just went over to visit you, but you don't have your blog listed on your profile. Also, drop the numbers at the end of your name, it's too long. People will probably call you TB or tweetie anyway.
Just surf around for friends, or click on some of the names of commenters on my sight or SME's sight. Her name is SME. ;) When you read a blog you like, leave a comment. People will click on your name, which takes them to your profile. Then they will click on your blog name, once you have it listed. This will take them to your blog.
I'm looking forward to reading your posts!

At 10/31/2006 4:54 PM, Blogger tshsmom said...

Tweetie, we'll get there yet! ;)
Why don't you email SME, and have her set the blog up for you. She's done a lot more than I have.
Once she has it set up, she can email the passwords to you. Then write it all down.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that forgets all this stuff!;)

Yeah Tweetie, Z is definitely his father's son! ;)
