It's ALL Good!

Did you know that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day, 5 hours apart?
They both died July 4th, 1826, the 50th anniversary of our great country. Weird, isn't it?

Our family has never been into the insanity that has become the popular way to celebrate our nation's Independence Day. When SME was little, we always went camping on the 4th. Now, my boss closes for July 4th only, so camping is out.

We rarely leave home on the 4th. We prefer to celebrate our freedoms on our own piece of property, far away from the drunks and the crowds of whining kids. We usually have a discussion about WHY we celebrate this day. We have a LOT to be grateful for!

I started my day at 5 a.m., sipping my coffee and watching our hummingbirds bully our new crop of baby chickadees. Life doesn't get any better than this!

L and I worked Monday and Tuesday. We have today off. Then we work Thursday and Friday. THEN, we have 6 DAYS OFF!! SME's family should be here sometime Monday. We hope to do a blog post together. Maybe a video? I want SME to teach me how to post home videos while she's here. THEN I can bore my readers with an entirely new aspect of our lives. Consider yourselves warned! ;)

Oh, I hope you can start posting videos, that'll be great! That's so fantastic that you're getting 6 consecutive days off. Enjoy!

Happy Independence Day. Sounds like a great way to celebrate! And I am so glad to read that you have 6 days off - you need AND deserve it!

Squirl, you're just saying that because you haven't seen our videos yet. We're pretty boring. ;)

WC, THANKS! God only knows when I'll get any time off again. We'll be short 1 waitress in the middle of August when Brat leaves for college. :(

Can't be any worse than my videos.

I'd say "ditto" about celebrating the 1st and 4th, but downtown it's awfully hard to avoid the drunks. And in the apartment right now, it's impossible to get away from whining kids. (just kidding, they're being really good right now) ;D

Happy 4th of July! Sounds like you have a fun way of observing it. And that you are finally getting a rest, about bleeping time.

Yes it is time. Enjoy every minute of it. We are leaving this afternoon for our small vacation. J has a job interview. He applied at this place a month ago. But we spent some money on fireworks for our back yard and then we went down town for a while and then stayed for the big ones down town. Listened to music and couldnt find the kitty section this year. That sucked royally. Oh well. Well catch you on Monday when I get back. Have a great time with family and I am looking forward a to combined post with you two. LOL...

We like to have our own celebrations by ourselves in quiet, including December 25th - or else we're just really antisocial. ;-)

Can't wait to see them.

If you need any additional tips on software or using a hosting service let me know.

SME, your videos are clever and cute!
How did Aaron like the movie?

Thanks Bridg! One more day to work and then we're slowing everything down. Yeehaw!

Tweets, we'll send you lots of pictures.

Monica, be careful what you wish for! ;)

DC, I'm starting to think that we're becoming anti-social too. There's a lot of jerks out there that aren't worth our time anymore. :(

Thanks Hammer. You're the KING of editing!

We did an all you can eat crab dinner, then took some little ones to a Firemen's Carnival, followed by excellent fireworks, all in a little town near our own. Have fun with SME and family. I'd also like to know how to post videos.

VV, all you can eat crab is appropriate for ANY holiday!

i'm glad that there are those who don't think the appropriate way to celebrate a great acheivement is to get fit-smaced and spoil their children.

good on you!

also great about the days off, take care and relax!

hahaha! Youtube is easy to use. I look forward to the holiday videos with a bunch of reluctant actors, I might be wrong of course... :)

LC, that's what SME keeps telling me about YouTube! I'm not too confident about my editing skills though.

You'll either see reluctant actors, or a bunch of hams!

I too like quiet holiday celebrations. Except I would like to go to the Royal Sonesta in New Orleans and have a carriage ride right before Christmas. But yeh, home is the place to be.

Have fun with company! You will.

Nah, won't be boring. We'll be looking forward to it.

Yeah, we didn't do anything for July 4th, just stayed at home and enjoyed each other's company. We both had the day off.

Gardenia, our family is FAR from quiet! It gets pretty wild with just the family on holidays. ;)

ZS, us too. It was nice spending more than 2 hours together.
