2 Weeks and Counting!

Our energy levels are slowly returning to normal.

L got most of the lawn mowed yesterday. The back is still too wet to mow...maybe tomorrow. He would have completed the front, but the starter rope fell out of its holder somehow, and L mowed over it. I got a new rope and handle at Menards. I've re-roped a snowmobile engine. Hopefully the lawnmower won't be much different.

I have the hand trimmer charged up so I can trim around the hostas and the snow-on-the-mountain today. I sorta got tangled up with a stray tomato cage a couple weeks ago, while mowing the rough edge of the lawn with the wheeled line-mower. L will need to put new line on it today.

I don't think we'll be working on the garage ceiling this weekend. It's supposed to hit 90F. and we don't feel like baking our brains beneath the bare metal garage roof! We have the rest of the summer and fall to finish the garage....it'll wait.

SME's family arrives 2 weeks from tomorrow!! We can't wait! SME and Doug want to sleep in the camper. This means we'd better get it uncovered and fix the tire that flattened over the winter. Z has been busily clearing the clutter in his room. Now, we need to sort the bins of his stuff that are littering the living room floor. We also need to clear the boxes of sorted stuff out of the den, so one of the kids can sleep in there...probably Demi. I have a feeling that Z and Aaron will crash in the living room, within reach of the PS2 and Gamecube.

My Mom and I figured out the menu yesterday. NOW, I just need to see if I can find soy cheese and veggie burgers in our grocery stores. I'll bake SME some eggless, soy milk bread, and buy her some "gross" organic peanut butter. Good thing I always have plenty of "regular" peanut butter, as the kids won't touch the organic stuff! We'll buy some tofu when she gets here. We'll also need to stock up on Demi's staple foods: Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls and Ramen noodles. HEY, I'm the GRANDMA! I don't have to worry about the grandkid's nutritional needs. I just feed them what they want. ;)

Vacuuming, I'm not worried about. We'll have our beloved "floor Nazi" (Doug) here. The man LOVES to vacuum!! We wouldn't want him to go into vacuuming withdrawal while he's here; would we?

We were going to move our freezer from the shed to the garage, while the whole family was here. We changed our minds. Our freezer is 40 yrs old. We decided to not tempt fate by jostling it in a move. We'll let it live the remainder of its life in the shed, where it's been happy for the last 19 yrs. Doug was looking forward to moving the freezer, so we'll have to find something else for him to do. Maybe some yard work....or we could dismantle and burn SME's old playhouse....

In the meantime, daily life goes on. I'd better get cracking. There's clothes to wash, checks to write, dishes to wash, clutter to sort.....

We have found things to do here at home but I still wish we could have went up to see Sme and family. I am slightly bummed out about that. But life happens right? LOL...We bought a pool yesterday though. That will give us girls something to play in. Its 3 ft deep and 12 ft wide. Nice size for the family. I found out anything under 4ft you dont need a fence for. It has taken 5 hours to fill the thing. But then we wont have to do that again for a while. Next year!!!!! LOL... Hope you have a great time with Sme and family. That is boys for you. They love there game systems.

hahaha about feeding your grand kid what they want not what they need.

As a kid I remember always prefering my grandma's cooking but it included cakes, tarts and ice cream which I never got at home!

I'm going home to my family in two months, can't wait.

Ooooh, I know what you can do, get Doug a hokey!! Thanks again for the info, I didn't know Hokey was a brand!

And, Tweetey, some of us girls like our game systems, too! ;)
(For the record, I'm just teasing.)

Tweets, this way you have something to show for your money, the pool.

LC, my Mom always had her fridge FULL of all the treats she wouldn't let me have, the grandkids were another story. ;)

Squirl, I KNOW! The time really got away from us the last couple of months.

Courtney, LMAO! He's a man. He gets off on the POWER TOOL aspect of cleaning. ;)

Good point! Z is always complaining that there are no girl gamers or computer geeks. Then I say: "What about Courtney?". Works every time!

LOL, we are clutter sorting here too. Sorting, resorting, sorting...and on and on. I bet you are so excited to see SME & the grandkids!

I think you are wise not moving the freezer. The things will last forever, but sometimes moving them will kill 'em. They must be creatures of habit.

I awed by your practical talents. I tried to re-wire a dryer once and when it was plugged in a fire started.

Leave the top of the garage until cooler fall - you will get sick from the heat.

Gardenia, we're VERY excited! We haven't seen each other, in person, for 3 YEARS!
We're scared silly that our freezer will die! The new ones won't work in temps below 30F. :(

Cannot believe how busy you guys are and how HANDY you are!

Please send the vacuuming guy here, OK?

Bridg, they WILL be heading your way when they leave here. They'll be visiting Doug's parents near Kingston.

I've been feeling burnt out and we weren't even sick. :-P

I think you were smart deciding not to move that freezer!

Sounds like fun times are on the way! :)

I think I need vacuuming guy next. ^_^

Holy Smokes!! You make me tired - what am I saying - we are doing the same zany sort of stuff around here. Crazy, isn't it. I agree with Candace, smart to leave old freezie-baby where he is.

You are going to have SUCH fun when SME arrives!

I am tickled for all of you!

Now....get crackin'!

I don't know if Richard would use your vacuum. That would be, like, cheating, y'know? But he'll be thrilled you're giving him something to do this time... he wanted to go down and help with reno all year.

I can definitely survive without any gaming, but I might have to build something on Z's Sims if he has a lot free. (Demi always gets mad at me for evicting her people, so I promise not to do that without prior notice!)

It's a good balance: You have one fussy eater, two guys who'll eat anything, and a girl who'll eat anything so long as it involves noodles or chocolate. ;D

Why is there never an end to all the work that needs to be done? I'm tired just reading your list! I don't even want to think of all the things that haven't been getting done around here since we've been "playing" all month. Not much time to do very much since M's family arrives next week. It's amazing how often family visit us now that we live near the beach. ;-)

We arent near the beach but have our pool. I have some photos to post later of J. He got in the pool last night and he was floating around in my chair. LOL... He looked just cute.

Candace, you had your ankle to contend with.
Starting July 8th, work stops, and FUN begins!!

Cherie, yeah, it's not like you're living the life of leisure either.
The freezer is a valued member of the family. I won't mess with his feng shue. ;)

SME, I won't tell Miele if you won't. ;)
You actually think you'll get a turn on Z's computer? Foolish girl!
Good balance? I don't know about that. According to MY calculations we have:
1 vegan
3 guys and me who'll eat anything (except Aaron won't eat hot dogs)
2 picky eaters
2 sr. citizens with high cholesterol, 1 with diabetes.
It's a miracle we came up with ANY menu for our crew! ;)

VV, I KNOW! Everything else falls apart while we're tackling our big projects. Some days it overwhelms me!
REMEMBER what you told me: your families are coming to see YOU, not your house or yard! ;)

Tweets, you guys will definitely get your money's worth out of that pool!

OK, good point. It is a bit tricky. ;D

I won't say a word to Miele. We have no relationship whatsoever.

You know what my beef with the organic peanut butter is? It's the worst thing to spread. I keep it in the fridge, fearing it will go bad, and it gets all hard. Drives me nuts. One of these days, I'm going to give up and go back to junk peanut butter.

At 6/27/2007 10:30 AM, Blogger tweetey30 said...

In our house hold we have one very picky eater and that is our three year old. She wont eat peanutbutter whatsoever. No thank you. I dont think she likes the texture. I dont mind. I cant even get her to eat Jelly and how many kids dotn like Jelly. LOL... Yikes. Well hope your trip goes will and your visit with the family. Take lots of photo's for me.

Maybe I should try organic peanut butter!

Looks like our plans have changed entirely. Now Richard's saying we're leaving the 8th, which means we'll be there the 10th or 11th and staying till about the 15th. (He says I didn't hear him right the first hundred or so times.) I'm saying this here cause he won't get off the damn phone.

SME I feel sorry for you because I know how that goes. That is how it always works here also. Men and there plans. LOL.... That is part of being the grown up though. LOL...

ZS, the kids don't like it because it separates. They also think it's weird to find PB in the fridge.

Tweets, we'll take plenty of pics. We'll probably do a blog post together too.

ZF, most adults like it. There's no fillers, so it should be safe for you to eat.

SME, we're still gonna take Monday off. It's not like she'd give us other days off in exchange.
Did you kiss and make up? Yesterday was certainly the day for pissed off relatives. Full moon on Saturday; beware! ;)

Raven, doing it is no picnic either. :(

I'm glad you're all feeling better. being is sick is so bad--I actually think i might have a phobia about it. The flu is the worst. Throwing up is the most wretched bodily function ever!
Thanks for stopping by my crafty blog once in awhile--it's good to see old friends.

Sadie, we're fortunate that the stomach flu hasn't struck us for several years now. *keeping fingers crossed*
I've been following your Etsy journey quite closely. This looks like something SME and I might want to get into. Thanks for paving the way! ;)
