Sibling Rivalry
As most of you already know, SME is 14 yrs older than Z. We never thought that they'd have much in common. Boy were we wrong! The older Z gets, the closer he becomes to his beloved sister. They have the same warped sense of humor(humour for SME), they watch the same TV shows(with the exception of Lost), and they both love to gang up on their Mom, even though they live 1100 miles apart. Our 3-way phone conversations can be a riot at times!
Purely by coincidence, Z and SME both received The Sims Complete, for Christmas. Ever since, they have been exchanging tips on the game. Z has been unsuccessfully trying to recreate our house in the Sims' environment. The game wouldn't allow him to build an 80 ft long house. Naturally, SME felt the need to one-up her brother. Last night, SME successfully added our house to her Sims environment. Not being one to gloat, SME immediately emailed screen shots of the house to her brother. She did an impressive job with the options available to her
Here's a view of our living room and the kids' bedrooms. SME says she couldn't put in the hall closet. I think she eliminated the hall closet, and the closet in her room, to make her room bigger than Z's.
Here's the view of our kitchen and master bedroom. Where's the fridge and the back porch SME? Oh...the deer antlers are in the garage now...that was a nice touch though. ;)
Here's a view of the living room, Z's room, and the hall from a different angle. SME managed to place the hall bookshelves and the dishwasher, but left us with no fridge. Are you trying to starve your ravenous brother?
Other than that, you did a GREAT job SME. You did a fantastic job on the new living room floor, even though you haven't seen it in person yet! BTW, the new couch is on the north wall; it's too big for the east wall.
Now SME just needs to add a family to our house. I shudder to think what type of warped individuals will be residing there!

That is SO DARN COOL!! Way to go all of you!
Warped people YAHOO!!!
It is cool, isn't it?! It gives everybody a great idea how our house is laid out.
Yeah, the people in SME's creations usually wander around in their bathrobes, and fall asleep on the street...in front of the schoolbus! Her Sims make us look normal, by comparison. ;)
Actually, that is pretty cool. You can see where you need to build better defenses when the zombies attack. Does the SIMS have zombie plagues? If not, it should. Imagine simulated a zombie plague. Your SIM finishes college has a good job, is currently dating, and suddenly, it happens.
Way cool! Good job sme!
I don't see the holes in the kitchen floor though.....hmmmmmmm...
:-D
That is really cool.
I want to go do one now :)
Great job! I don't think I could ever figure out how to do all that. I'm better sketching things out with a pencil and paper. Low-tech, but very reliable.
Gee, that's neat. Never heard of Sim's though.
Wow! Very impressive.
Dangit, now I knew I'd get a few details wrong since you redecorated. I had to make your navy wall light blue, 'cause whoever selected the colors (colours) for Sims has something against the color (colour) blue. The fridge is there, though, it's just not visible next to the wall. And I added the back porch and the shed later.
Yeah, there's a world of difference between Sims and us. I did a mock-up our place, too, and in the Sims world our cat died of depression (they don't have bunnies), the floor is infested with bugs and mice, and that effing CLOWN FROM HELL won't go away. In reality, Sophie is spoiled rotten and a half, you could probably eat off the floor thanks to Richard the Floor Nazi and his 2nd girlfriend ("Miele"), and any clown crossing our threshold would have to step over my dead body. ;D
ZS, I don't think there are zombies (another difference from reality), but if somebody dies in your house it becomes haunted. Very annoying.
P.S. Heehee, I KNEW Z would say something about my room being bigger! But it's a den now, so in Sims it doesn't NEED a closet.
So is Z working feverishly to create a better one? Not that SME's isn't uber cool.
ZS, I think too many windows would be our biggest weakness in a zombie attack. ;)
Cherie, her placement of the table covers the holes. heehee
You're just smug because you're making headway on your kitchen!
Hammer, she's also done houses from famous movies like the Psycho house...or maybe she was referring to our house. ;)
VV, me too! I'll bet OUR diagrams have more accurate measurements.
WC, really? The Sims started out as a kid's game, but adults quickly got addicted to it too.
Sonja, she did a good job. Now I can't wait to see who moves in.
SME, yeah, Z says he can't get rid of the clown from hell either.
I can see why you didn't do the hall closet...there wasn't room for another door.
Courtney, he will be, as soon as the new power supply arrives for his computer. He's NOT a happy camper right now.
SME - Ghosts? So much for my mother playing The Sims. She's scared of ghosts.
p.s. I added a family to your house, and they're behaving totally according to character. The dad headed for the computer, and the mother cranked up the stereo. ;D
Hey! It dropped my comment. :(
I said the ghosts aren't scary, just obnoxious - they sneak up on living Sims and keep them awake at night. I have no idea how to get rid of them (or real ghosts, for that matter).
Oh, and I've heard that if you add a fireplace, hang the clown's picture above it, then start a fire, the Clown from Hell will spontaneously combust. Hasn't worked so far!
Jeez, your kids reminds me of K. His favorite part about the Sims is not the actual game play. He only likes to design the houses and the neighborhoods. :-P
SME, that definitely sounds like home!
Speaking of pictures...what's up with the picture of Napolean over our bed...and the wall-hanging in the hall?
BTW, Z says he can find a better living room clock too. ;)
Notta, yet another similarity the boys have! That doesn't surprise me. ;)
Like I said, the selection isn't so great. Napoleon made more sense than, say, a giant guinea pig. ;)
This is a great post like I told you earlier. Thanks for the talk earlier. I enjoyed it really. Like you said we talked about everything and anything for almost two hours today.LOL.. J still didnt like me talking about the religion. He feels its our problem but it felt good to talk to someone who knows more than we do.
I spend enough time blogging. I don't want to get into anything like Sims. But SME makes it look easy. Sounds like it's anything but.
One of my friends is totally addicted to Sims. I knew that I had to avoid it, or I wouldn't get to bed until, like, 4 a.m.
This is pretty cool though. I was wondering about Napoleon.
He needs a Power Supply? What kind, I've got an extra one that I can't use and the store wouldn't take back (even though they said they would). Even if he just wants some extra parts, I'd be happy to send it.
what about dust bunnies? I would need dust bunnies/dinosaurs...
Tweets, we did have a great talk! I didn't realize that J was home, or I wouldn't have called until today. I didn't want to get you in trouble. Tell J I'm only trying to help because we love you guys!
Monica and Squirl, I don't have time to mess with it either. I can't even find the time to organize our digital pics. :(
Courtney, I'm not the techie around here, so I'll have to ask L or Z what kind it is. Z's new one should be here tomorrow, but L works on all our friend's computers. Maybe he would be able to use it sometime, and get you some cash for it.
Bridg, from what I've seen, Sims can be pretty filthy. Z discovered that it's good to add a dog to the household. A dog will eat the garbage that the Sims refuse to take out.
Yeah, no dust...just lots and LOTS of garbage. ;P
You will have to send us the people who live there - I mean who they are. This is too fun......I don't think I would have the patience. But it sounds like a lot of fun - especially to have another person doing it with you.........
Tshsmom dont worry about it. I dont keep secrets from J anyway. That is the best part about us. We dont hide things from eachother. Never have and I dont think we ever will either. But again thanks Z for the book when mom sends it out. I think the girls will cherish it.
I used to play with Sim City and create these incredible disasters to see how long it took to wipe out the population. This game seems much more genteel. ;-)
Gardenia, that's a good idea. SME will need to send us screen shots of the family. I'm kinda curious how we look as Sims.
Tweets, you're right. Hiding stuff will always come back and bite you. I'll send the book as soon as I find a box to ship it in.
Jason, LOL, Z used to do that too. Tornadoes and earthquakes were his favorites.
He tried SimFarm too, but his farm always wound up as a dust bowl.
Jason, with Sims you can create disasters on a micro scale, having dissolute alcholics fritter away the family fortune and whatnot. Fun!
No hurry. Just when you get time.
14 years is significant...when I was young, there was 2 years between me and one sister, 4 between me and another, and 6 between me and the last. At the time it felt like the world, but as we got older we shared a lot more. Age is a funny thing.
holy god! that's really cool! i always knew one could make a house, but it never occured to me to make a model of my own
Jay, isn't it weird how that works? When I was a kid, my best friend's sister was 3 yrs older than us. That 3 yrs seemed like a chasm between us. By the time I was 21, I married a 28 yr old...we never felt any age difference. Now, most of my friends are either 10-15 yrs older or younger than I am and we all feel like we're the same age. ;)
Hannah, cool, isn't it? Go ahead and make a model of your house, then post it...I'm curious. ;)
Awesome! This looks like a great house and good job SME! I tried to do that with my last house but was struggling to fit in everything so I gave up. I think I was obsessing cos I could not find the right colour furniture.
LC, SME had problems finding pictures for the walls. They didn't have anything similar to what we have. Other, than that, it came out pretty well.
